Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can you show me some of your timber grain samples - I'm not quite sure what Crown Mahogany, Flame Mahogany and Burr Walnut look like?

A.Take a look at the image on the right, from left to right, the grains are: Crown Mahogany, Flame Mahogany, Burr Walnut.

Q. Where does your wood and other supplies come from?

A.I use the very best, hand-selected, solid Sapele Mahogany timber from Africa as well as European Burr Walnut, and solid brass handles from England and America.

Q. Can you please tell me how you manage to get such a lovely finish to your pieces of furniture?

A.I am proud of my reputation as a Master Craftsman, so when it comes to the specialist polishing process, I know there are no shortcuts! Using materials I consider the best, combined with time and effort, I get a finish that I know will glow for a lifetime. Chairs, cabinet ends and bases are stained - table tops and most exposed surfaces are grain filled and sealed with two coats of heat resistant polyurethane sealer. The final finish is achieved by applying several coats of lacquer with much sandpapering and burnishing throughout the process.

Q. I would like to get a chair made, and would like to know about upholstering it. Do I choose the fabric or do you have samples that I can choose from?

A.All upholstering is done using high quality contemporary materials and upholstery methods before being skilfully covered to the highest standards. The choosing of a fabric is a very personal matter therefore most of our clients like to supply their own fabric, although samples are available through my upholsterer

Q. I have a question that isn't answered here, what can I do?
